Biggest Rainbows in the Sky

Written by Jocelyn McQuirter and illustrated by me, this is a tender, hopeful story about a toddler exploring his world during the stillness of the pandemic.

Through squirrels, loud noises, and giant glowing bubbles, he discovers wonder, courage, and quiet strength.

Working with Suryaa Rangarajan on my debut children’s book, "Biggest Rainbows in the Sky," was truly a dream. I first discovered her through an illustrator platform. Her vibrant, evocative illustrations instantly caught my eye.

Fast forward several months in the making and she brought the story to life with great care, creativity, and professionalism. Suryaa stayed on track with timelines and budget, offered thoughtful design ideas, and welcomed feedback with grace. She even found inspiration from family photos to better understand the story’s heart.

The cover alone is stunning, but the entire book is a joyful, magical, layered piece of art. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had her as my partner on this journey, and I recommend her with full confidence to anyone looking for a truly collaborative, inclusive, and human-centered illustrator. The final product is truly a work of art. I couldn’t have asked for a better illustrator and I’d recommend her.
